Dear Zumberas and Zumberos,
Gung Hay Fat Choy!!!
So sorry for this late newsletter. After the LA Conference, I was hoping to get it out but then I caught a sinus infection that put me down for 2 days. Ugh, it wasn’t fun since I had so much to do. But at the conference all I did was:
I took so many pictures and to figure out which to place in the newsletter is hard. So I did a collage of some memories. It all started off with the California Jammers 2 hour Master Class!! I danced on stage for a few numbers and that was exhilarating!!! The studio was where Michael Jackson practiced with some of the best choreographers. Each day of the LA Conference was filled with non-stop fun. I assisted Liana Veda in her JAM sessions. Yes, new choreography to share!! I got to see Alena Groopman after 6 months of being in Asia!! Two of the best sessions I took were DanceHall with LaToya and Catherine and Zumba Warrior (now called Red Warrior) with Jani Roberts!!
DanceHall is a favorite of mine and these awesome ladies are coming to Fremont March 1st so if you want to come, let me know and we will definitely get a group together to party with them. Warrior was a combination of kickboxing using Muay Thai and Capoeria techniques combined with bootcamp (Military) moves. I didn’t know if I could get through that class after two long days of sessions prior but I pushed myself. I absolutely loved it!!! There was only one move I didn’t do …burpees because I have vertigo and my head would be spinning!! But everything else I did from the rolling push ups to all of the 5 minute planks!! I’m thinking of bringing this format to the Studio!!!
**ALERT Schedule Change: Wednesday 6pm is now Zumba with Strength + Abs (like our Saturday class). I plan to add Sentao to our rotation on Tuesday 7:15 class and also make it a special class. For some reason, you students are afraid to try new formats. I don’t know why because you are cheating your body of the strength training you need. Sentao is both cardio and strength and these types of classes are the best for your body. Your bones need the strength training. Ask your doctor…Straight cardio is not going to help the bones!!
Weight Challenge: Are you ready to do this?
There will be 2 challenges going on…
#1 Studio Z Challenge: This will be a 4 week challenge. Weigh in is the Week of February 3rd. So in order to participate, there’s a $10 charge (the dollars will go into a pot for multiple winners); You will get a card and you need to try different classes during the 4 week time. Instructor will sign off that you attended. You must attend a minimum of 8 classes (that’s 2 a week). This is not that hard to do. I will give you the suggested meal plan and honestly, there is no reason why you should not drop pounds and inches. Do you remember the results from our challenge in November? There was a total of 61 pounds lost (one student lost 11 pounds). The total inches was Chest 8.5, Waist 31.5, Hips 13.5, Arms 4, Thighs 8.5 (one student lost a total of 10.5 inches). So it is very possible!!! If I analyze the results of the last challenge, I would say that more strength training is necessary to tone the arms especially. It can be done!!!
The challenge of course will be based on individual’s own percentages to be fair and maybe we will have a vote on transformation (class participation).
#2 Transformation Challenge for $30,000+: Basically this challenge is open internationally and the winner is voted on the overall transformation. There is an app called Alladin Social Network. You sign up and the team name is Studio Z Fitness – Cheryl. You use this app to encourage others, post before and after pictures, ask questions, post what you are eating, encourage others. The contest starts in February and goes til May (3 months). You can send private messages or let everyone in our team see our messages. But wouldn’t it be great if someone on our team wins $30,000????
Special question: How many conferences (LA) and how many conventions(Orlando) has Cheryl attended? Answer the question correctly and earn a discount coupon for Z Boutique (you could earn 2 max on this questions)
Bones are quite literally the support system of the body, so it’s super important to keep them strong and healthy. Bones are continuously being broken down and rebuilt in tiny amounts Make exercise a priority. Seriously. Regular exercise is key to keep a number of health issues at bay, and bone health is no exception. In fact, living a sedentary lifestyle is considered a risk factor for osteoporosis. What type of exercise is most effective? Exercises using weights and strength resistance training has been shown to improve bone health in several studies. So make sure you try our strength classes offered each day. You will be doing your body good. A bonus for the more senior student: improved strength and balance helps prevent falls (and the associated fractures) in those who already have osteoporosis.
